How to dance Cueca

Cueca is danced in a 6/8 time signature, which gives it a rhythm that's easy to follow once you get the hang of it. The basic movement involves taking three steps forward and three steps back.

Start with the feet together, and when you move forward, step with the left foot first. Then, take a step with the right foot and the left foot again. Afterward, take three steps backward in the opposite direction.

The timing: "1-2-3" for the forward steps and "4-5-6" for the backward steps.
