INTERNATIONAL BALLON FESTIVAL IN GUANAJUATO

  • Event Name: International Balloon Festival (Festival Internacional del Globo)

  • Location: Metropolitan Park, León, Guanajuato, Mexico

  • Significance: One of the largest hot air balloon festivals in Latin America and among the top three globally

DÍA DE REYES MAGOS 

  • "While Christmas is widely celebrated, in Mexico, the holiday season extends to January 6th with Día de Reyes, honoring the arrival of the Three Wise Men."

  • Gift-Giving: Children receive gifts on this day, commemorating the presents given to baby Jesus by the Magi.

  • Shoes Tradition: On the night of January 5th, children place their shoes out, often filled with hay or a note, hoping to find them filled with gifts the next morning.

  • Rosca de Reyes: A sweet, ring-shaped bread decorated with candied fruits, symbolizing a crown. Hidden inside is a small figurine representing baby Jesus. The person who finds it is expected to host a tamales party on February 2nd, known as Día de la Candelaria .
